Talking to Parents Makes Kids Feel Safer at School, Study Says – K-12 Parents and the Public – Education Week

Talking to Parents Makes Kids Feel Safer at School, Study Says – K-12 Parents and the Public – Education Week.

Who would have thought that talking to your kids would make a difference? (Insert sarcastic voice on that question.)  I like the intentions of this study, especially since it deals with middle school students as middle school has been shown as a time period wherein a lot of student interest drops for continuing their education.

It will never cease to amaze me that we need scientific studies to prove that taking an interest in our children and listening to them actually helps them feel safer and more secure.  However, I hope some people do read this and recognize that just letting your kids know they can talk to you (without retribution or punishment) about what is happening at their school will help them in their education process.
