Like most parents, I am quite particular when it comes to the influences on my son. It’s frustrating when you find out that someone you hoped was a positive influence is actually viewed by your son as negative and, likewise, the influence does not see your son in a positive light.
I admit that I think our schools are getting too focused on test scores and regurgitating spelling words and not creating critical thinkers. I also think that in this day and age of zero tolerance, our boys are being left behind. What was once considered endearing behavior is now immediately labeled as hyper or troubled or behind, and shuffled off to a remedial class or doped up on drugs to control them.
The question that comes to my mind is it the children who are running rampant or is it the adults who have forgotten what it is like to be a child?
